Concept and Vision

The "30 handmade posters on positive change" initiative was designed to empower individuals and communities by fostering creativity, sustainability, and social impact through handmade crafts. The core idea was to create 30 unique handmade projects, each aimed at promoting a specific aspect of positive change, such as environmental awareness, mental health, and community building.

Project Goals:

  • Sustainability: Encouraging the use of recycled and eco-friendly materials.

  • Community Engagement: Bringing people together to collaborate and share skills.

  • Personal Growth: Providing therapeutic benefits and boosting self-esteem through creative expression.

  • Social Impact: Supporting charitable causes and raising awareness about critical issues.

Project Planning

The planning phase involved meticulous preparation to ensure each project was impactful and achievable. Key steps included:

  • Research and Inspiration: Exploring various craft traditions and innovative ideas to develop a diverse range of projects.

  • Material Sourcing: Identifying sustainable and locally-sourced materials to minimize environmental impact.

  • Skill Mapping: Assessing the skill levels required for each project and ensuring they cater to both beginners and experienced crafters.

  • Timeline and Milestones: Creating a detailed project timeline with clear milestones to track progress and ensure timely completion.

  • Collaboration: Partnering with local artisans, community centers, and non-profit organizations to enhance the reach and impact of the projects.

Development and Execution

The development phase focused on creating and executing each of the 30 handmade projects. This phase included:

  • Design and Prototyping: Designing initial prototypes for each project to test feasibility and make necessary adjustments.

  • Workshops and Tutorials: Organizing hands-on workshops and creating step-by-step tutorials to guide participants through each project.

  • Community Events: Hosting community events to bring participants together, share experiences, and showcase their creations.

  • Feedback Loop: Establishing a feedback mechanism to gather input from participants and make continuous improvements.

Collection of Ideas

This initiative culminated in a collection of the 30 most interesting ideas written on posters during a pop-up exhibition, series of workshops, and other random meetings. This publication features:

  • 30 Poster Authors: Highlighting the creativity and insights of 30 individuals whose ideas were showcased.

  • Exhibition Participation: Over 50 students, teachers, and alumni visited the exhibition, contributing to a vibrant exchange of ideas and inspiration.

  • Promoting Student Work: The initiative also aimed to promote the work of other students, encouraging collaboration and mutual support within the creative community.

Screen Printing Methods

One of the key techniques used in the handmade projects was screen printing, a versatile method ideal for creating custom designs. Here are some of the screen printing methods employed:

  • Stencil Technique: Using a stencil to block out areas of the screen, allowing ink to pass through only in the desired design.

  • Photo Emulsion Technique: Coating the screen with a light-sensitive emulsion and exposing it to UV light to create detailed designs.

  • Hand-Drawn Designs: Drawing directly on the screen with screen filler, allowing for unique, hand-crafted designs.

  • Digital Design Transfer: Creating designs digitally and transferring them onto the screen using a photo emulsion process for precision.
